The Whanganui River TOP 10 Holiday Park is an accredited member of the Holiday Parks Association of New Zealand Cycle Hub.

This means we are cycle-friendly, we have a safe, locked area for you to store your own bike, a place for you to clean and work on your bike and we know some great people in town who can help with any issues that need fixing on your bike.

We also have trail bikes available for hire. With plenty of accommodation options available to you, this is the perfect place for all cycling enthusiasts to stay.

Mountains To Sea - Nga Ara Tuhono

Whanganui sits at the end of the Mountains To Sea Cycle Trail - Nga Ara Tuhono. This trail uses mountain bike tracks, roads and a jet boat to take you from Mt Ruapehu, through two national parks, past majestic mountains and stunning native forest to arrive at the Tasman Sea in Whanganui.

This track is part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail. The Mountains to Sea Trail is 200km long and can take 3 days, or smaller sections can be completed in a day.

Once completed, our park is the perfect place to kick back and relax. Pitch your tent by the river and reminisce about your journey, or spoil yourself with a deluxe motel with all the trimmings and a soak in the spa.

Mountain Bike Tracks

You will find an excellent mountain bike track just a short ride away from our park at Hylton Park off Brunswick Road. Suitable for beginners and intermediate riders with some sections exclusively for experienced riders.

A short drive away from Kaitoke you will find Araheke Mountain Bike Park. Choose from the six tracks which can be separately completed or all six done in a 21.5km loop known as the Kaitipo Trail.

Upokongaro Cycle Bridge

You will find a family friendly bike trail starting after the Aramoho Cemetery if you turn right on to Somme Parade at the end of our driveway. In just 12min (4.1km) from our park you will find the newest bridge in Whanganui. The bridge is part of the Mountains to Sea cycleway, which begins in Ohakune and continues through National Park to Whanganui, ending at the North Mole in Castlecliff. Cross the 130m long suspension bridge to visit the small riverside settlement of Upokongaro, here you can stop for lunch at the Riverboat Bar & Café or enjoy the back garden and historic themed café Behind the Door on Four.
