Communal Building
The main communal building at Whanganui River TOP 10 is conveniently situated in the centre of the park, so you are never more then a short stroll away. This building houses a large, well equipped kitchen, indoor dining room, TV room, laundry, showers/toilets, BBQ, Pizza Oven, tourist information and a book swap.
There are covered outside dining areas on both sides of the building, so you can choose your view each day.
There is ramped access for those with mobility difficulties. There are entrances to the kitchen, dining and TV rooms from both sides, so wherever you are staying you won't have far to walk.
Kitchen
Our main park kitchen is large and spacious and fitted out with 3 large, top class ovens and plenty of preparation space.
There are 6 sinks, 2 microwaves, 2 4-slice toasters, 2 kettles, a single upright freezer and 2 double upright fridges. Dining tables and chairs are also located in the main kitchen. Dish cloths, tea towels and washing up liquid are provided for your use.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to the fresh herbs in our herb garden outside the kitchen. And don't forget to finish your meal with a barista made cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate or flat white from reception available during opening hours.
If you are camping or staying in one of our Standard Cabins and have forgotten to bring along your kitchen utensils and/or crockery we have some available in our Kitchen Cupboard. Simply ask about the Kitchen Cupboard key (accessed with a refundable deposit) at reception.
Dining & TV Room
Next to the kitchen you will find our spacious dining room with our TV lounge. There are numerous dining tables and chairs - plenty for small families or large groups.
We have a Smart TV and couches at one end of the room with Netflix, and Sky Sport Apps installed.
Fancy relaxing with a good book, but you've read all the ones you bought with you? Then pop along to our Book Swap where you will find a selection of books. Please remember it's a swap: take one but leave one behind.
For the younger ones you'll find some soft toys to play with and for anyone looking for an indoor activity you'll find boards games to borrow.
Local and regional tourist information can be found in the dining room, but don't hesitate to ask our friendly staff for more information on anything you are particularly interested in.
Pizza and Hot Chips
Looking for an easy dinner - we've got you. On our main communal deck you will find our free to use Pizza Oven and our world famous Hot Chip Vending Machine!
Grab a frozen pizza from Reception and you're minutes away from a tasty meal.
BBQ Areas
No holiday is complete without the classic kiwi BBQ.
BBQs are free to use at Whanganui River TOP 10 and we have them in 3 separate areas so you're never far from one to use.
1. On our main decking area. Undercover and close to the main kitchen and dining rooms - ideal if you're cooking up a big feast.
2. By the 2nd children's playground behind the games room - perfect for families: adults can cook while the kids play safely close by.
3. In our main tent field close to the river - awesome for our campers, covered seating area and river views.
Book into a Deluxe Self-Contained Unit or Motel and you'll have your own electric BBQ on your decking.
Book a Glamping Tent and you'll find a BBQ in our Glamping Field.
Laundry
The guest laundry houses 3 washing machines and 3 tumble dryers. It is $5 per washing machine cycle and $5 per drier cycle. Both machines use $1 or $2 coins. Detergent can be purchased from reception or from the vending machine inside the laundry.
There are several washing lines throughout the park so you’ll never have to walk too far to get the towels off the line and pegs are available to borrow from reception. We actively encourage you to use the drying lines to save on power usage and reduce our impact on the environment. You will find a map in our guest laundry to show you where the washing lines are located.
Showers & Toilets
Light and spacious shower and toilet facilities can be found in the main communal building. These are maintained to a high level of cleanliness. The ladies bathroom has recently been refurbished. The ladies bathrooms have hairdryers (men can call into Reception to borrow a hairdryer if needed), both bathrooms have power points.
Showers are free to use and there are no timers cutting off the hot water just as you've lathered your hair in shampoo. However we appreciate all efforts our guests make to contribute to our environmental policy including limiting excessive water use where possible.
Additional Showers and Toilets can be found in the Kitchen Cabin block near the outdoor BBQ area (there's a map outside the main bathrooms to show you how to get to these).
When the peak season is in full swing and the park is busy, you can also find additional shower and toilet facilities in the building next to the swimming pool.
Family Bathroom
Our family bathroom is light and spacious with a bath with shower over, a baby bath, a baby change table and loads of space for the whole family to get washed and dressed. Great for young families. Located close to the main communal building and the swimming pool and convenient for all our campers.
If you're travelling with babies or young children just ask in reception for a key.
Accessible Shower Room
Our bright and spacious accessible shower room for our guests with mobility difficulties or using a wheelchair is light and airy with all the modern equipment you could need.
Ask at reception when you check in for a key.
