July 2016

We've been so busy over the last few months. So much work going on and improvements being made.

Our most exciting and proudest improvement is that WE'VE GONE SOLAR!

That's right, you'll notice lots of solar panels on the roof of the main communal building. We're doing our bit to reduce our impact on this wonderful planet of ours and letting the warm kiwi sun take the strain for as much as possible of our power production.

The swimming pool will also be heated by the sun. We've installed lots of solar water heating pipes, so in the summer the natural energy of the kiwi sun will help us keep our outdoor pool toasty warm at 30 degrees. Not long until September when we open the pool again and you can come on down for a splash!

In keeping with our sustainability policy we've also planted lots more native trees around the park. Not only will they provide some added colour and shade, but they help to keep our native kiwi flora and fauna alive.

Recently we've been renovating our communal shower block. The ladies is all finished and looking so much brighter and fresher. The men's is just waiting for some new flooring to go down and then we'll re-open it. (don't worry though, we have our secondary shower block available for male guests at the moment - plus there's always our fantastic family bathroom and accessible shower room).

For the younger guests we have a second adventure playground just installed. Pop round the back of the games room to the outdoor BBQ area and you'll find it. Hours of fun for the little ones whilst you cook up a storm on the barbie! Cook, eat and play all in one safe area.

The Games Room has had even more additions - notably an ice-cream vending machine! That's right, now it doesn't matter if reception is closed for the night, if you want a late night (or very early morning) ice cream hit, you can help yourself!
Also we have "The Claw" with some great soft toys to try and win. Can you control the claw?

For those of you that enjoy our outdoors activiites, we've purchased a few new kayaks, including one 2+1 kayak, which means 2 adults and one smaller child can all go out together. We've a new swish trailer to transport them up and down river now too. Book your kayak trip now - don't let winter hold you back, you're going to get a bit wet anyway right?

Following on from some guest feedback we have recently done the following:

The TV room has had a few improvements. We've got a new large flat screen TV and some new bean bags for families to relax on whilst watch a movie or the match.

We've also added some USB charging points for the convenience of our guests wanting to charge a phone or tablet - no need to remember the right plug adaptor now. You'll find these in the TV room and the main Kitchen.

We've installed TVs into the Kitchen Cabins, so all 7 kitchen cabins now have TVs with built in DVD players, allowing you that extra bit of privacy to watch what you want in your own cabin. Don't forget we have a great list of DVDs available to hire from reception.

We've added an additional large size oven with 5 gas burners in the main kitchen, so there's 3 big ovens there now - loads of space for all our guests to cook at once and especially great for groups doing large scale cook ups.

Our hard-standing sites have had a refurb and we've made them wider. Easier to drive into and less likely to get your feet wet on the dewy grass in the morning.  We've levelled out the 2 riverside sites damaged by the flood last year and added an extra hard standing there too, so more opportunity for river view sites on wetter winter days for all those of you in your vans.

We're really pleased with all the improvements we've been doing lately and hope you come down soon to check it all out for yourself.
